Dr. Norman Shedlo, a 1999 graduate of Nova Southeastern College of Optometry, joined the practice in 2000 as an associate and purchased the practice, following Dr. Tempchin's retirement, in August, 2004. Dr. Shedlo received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Computer Science from New York University. Dr. Shedlo Completed medical optometry externships at the Braverman Eye Center in Hollywood, Florida and the Dan and Hoffman Eye Centers in North Miami Beach, Florida. Dr. Shedlo has the highest level of Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA) certification under the Maryland Board of Examiners in Optometry. Member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control.
The Eyecare Center of Maryland, founded in 1954 by Dr. Stanley Tempchin in Hyattsville, is a full scope optometric practice currently located in the Wheaton/Silver Spring/Rockville section of Montgomery county.
In his spare time Dr. Shedlo enjoys reading about the history of science with a particular interest in the development of optics and optical instruments. He is also an enthusiastic amateur microscopist and has won numerous awards for photography through the microscope. He also enjoys repairing and restoring vintage microscopes and other scientific apparatus. Dr. Shedlo enjoys astronomy using binoculars and telescopes to see the moon, planets and any other sky phenomena that come our way. Dr. Shedlo loves the outdoors and exercise and indulges in mowing the lawn and road biking. His favorite activity is spending time with his wife and children, entertaining and cooking up new dishes with a particular fondness for spicy middle eastern food.
